Autumn 2018 newsletter

Hello to our Peak Cycling followers

What a fabulous summer we’ve had; lots of kids cycling, bespoke gravel biking days and weekends and organised group

cycling events.

We finished with a long, 2 day, challenging (hilly!) charity road ride for Vision Express. Bodies, tempers and senses of humour were tested by the weather on day 2, but they raised a massive amount of money for CHECT, and everybody finished with a big smile feeling justifiably proud of their achievement.

If you are feeling inspired to read more, try chect.org.uk or even donate at justgiving.com/teams/ride4sight2018.

Also, partnering with Sheffield City Council, we’ve been working on a Visit England project to promote Sheffield as an adventure tourism city break destination. Sheffield, Outdoor City has been a “brand” for a while, but the efforts of this project should raise the profile even further. Part of this work included a successful bid to buy 6 gravel bikes, and we now have the first “gravel bikes” for hire in The Peak District (we are not turning into a bike hire business though, we only rent them for our guided rides).

We are also embarking on an upgrade to our website, and once complete will enable customers to book and buy specific products on line, avoiding the back and forth of emails. Of course, bespoke tours will remain at the heart of what we do, and we always welcome direct contact to arrange your cycling day or weekend if you can’t find what you are after.

Alongside the website upgrades we are now on Trip Advisor and invite all previous customers to please write us a nice review! We are still on Facebook, so you can also review us on there too (please do, it all helps people get to know Peak Cycling). Please paste these links into your browser.

2019 looks to be a good year for Peak Cycling, not only from Sheffield related activities. We have a corporate ride in Norway to organise, are planning a week’s road tour of the Scottish Islands (which will go on sale for 2020), Introduction days to Gravel Biking and Mountain Biking, plus our Core MTB skills weekend and Beyond the Trail Centre courses. Then there will be lots of “one day” road and gravel day rides, plus the inaugural Shrigley Spring Classic (#shrigleyspringclassic) on May 18th, around 125km with plenty of climbing. The event includes dinner, bed & breakfast at the fabulous Shrigley Hall Hotel, plus leadership and full van café support for just £250. You can register your interest before the end of December and save £25.

Kids school holiday activities continue with a day over New Year, again based at The Cow Shed, Dale Abbey, and will run at February half term, Easter, May half term and over the summer. Speaking of summer, if any of our customers would like to make a group cycling booking, please get in early, as the calendar is already starting to look busy with everything we are getting involved in.

We hope to see many of you again in 2019, whether in lycra on a beautiful Peak District lane or gravel track, baggies on a rocky descent or even in the café enjoying a fancy coffee.
