HALF DAY ROAD RIDE

What you get

This half day ride is ideal for an easy few hour’s relaxed riding on quiet country roads, giving a taste of the beauty of the Peak District. Hills are unavoidable but kept to a minimum.

Specifically….

  • Varying terrain and fantastic scenery

  • mostly quiet country roads

  • Expert guiding and leadership

  • riding advice on technique, kit and bike set up

  • the de rigueur café stop

  • We will be out for about 3- 4 hours

 

What you need to bring

  • A suitable road or hybrid bike – (hire options available)

  • A helmet (hire helmets available)

  • A spare inner tube, tyre levers and pump to fit your own bike (provided with hire bikes)

  • The right clothes to cover all weathers (weather conditions can change quickly in the Peak District so don’t forget your waterproof)

  • Snacks and a drink, plus café money for coffee and cake

  • No prior experience is necessary, but come with a sense of adventure and be prepared to have fun.

 

FULL DAY ROAD RIDE

What you get

This 1-day ride is ideal for fitter beginners and/or regular riders. Mostly riding quiet county roads main roads are kept to a minimum and we travel at a relaxed pace. The Peak District is a hilly area so expect rolling climbs and descents, but nothing too severe.

 

Specifically….

  • varying terrain and fantastic scenery

  • mostly quiet country roads

  • Expert guiding and leadership

  • riding advice on technique, kit and bike set up

  • the de rigueur café stop for lunch

  • We will be out for about 6-7 hours

 

What you need to bring

  • A suitable Road bike (hire options available)

  • A spare inner tube, tyre levers and pump to fit your own bike (provided with hire bikes)

  • A helmet (hire helmets available)

  • The right clothes for the weather (a lightweight waterproof)

  • A drink and some snacks, plus café money for coffee and lunch

  • A phone in case of emergencies (not compulsory) and to take photos of those fabulous views.

  • No prior experience is necessary, but come with a reasonable level of fitness and a sense of adventure.

 

BIG DAY OUT SHRIGLEY SPRING CLASSIC ROAD CYCLING

What you get

This epic, challenging 1-day ride is ideal for adventurous, fit and intermediate + cyclists who regularly ride their bikes or ride for several hours at a time. This ride will cover a long distance and, as the Peak District is the “home of the hill climb”, will contain a lot of climbing and descending. Expect long climbs, short steep climbs, and steep twisty technical descents. The start point and route varies throughout the year so check the calendar for specific details. Either way we will ride some of the iconic cycling roads of the Peak District as used in the Tour of Britain, The Tour de Yorkshire, Le Tour de France, and the Tour of the Peak. This Epic day out is van supported so refreshments and maintenance are never far away.

 

Specifically….

  • Van support, with the now famous Peak Cycling mobile cafe

  • Multiple climbs and descents on varying terrain

  • Technical riding

  • Expert guiding and leadership

  • Fantastic Scenery

  • We will be out for about 8 - 10 hours and cover 80-100 miles (130km -160km) with over 1500m of climbing

 

What you need to bring

  • A suitable road bike – (hire options available)

  • A helmet - compulsory (hire helmets available)

  • The right clothes to cover all weathers (weather conditions can change quickly in the Peak District so don’t forget your waterproof)

  • Spare inner tubes, tyre levers and a pump for your own bike (provided with hire bikes)

  • Food and drink for a long day out, plus café money for lunch

  • A phone in case of emergencies (not compulsory) and to take photos of those fabulous views

  • Prior biking experience; you need to be comfortable riding up and down hills and fit enough to ride for several hours in a day.

 

ISLANDS AND HIGHLANDS

What you get

The Peak Cycling road trip for 2019 is to the Outer Hebrides and the Highlands of Scotland, starting and finishing in Oban. We will get the ferry to Barra, explore the Hebridean chain then return down to the mainland at Ullapool and journey south back to Oban. It is ideal for those wishing to really explore the beauty of the area, with relaxed riding on mostly quiet country roads, with busier main roads kept to a minimum. Hills are unavoidable. The pace is relaxed as we will be riding for 7 days without a rest day. Our multi day tours are fully van supported, which means refreshment stops during the ride and mechanical assistance when needed. We will also carry your kit so you don’t have to load up your bike and can concentrate on the riding. Accommodation can be Hostel, Hotel or BnB based.

  • Water Bottle(s)

  • A phone in case of emergencies, and to take photos of those fabulous views

  • Prior biking experience; you need to be comfortable riding up and down hills and fit enough to ride all day.

  • Clothes etc for a week (one bag limit)
