Summer cycling in the Peaks
Hi everyone, and we hope you have been enjoying the dry trails and roads we seem to be blessed with so far!
The Peak District MTB trails are dry, dusty and running sweet. Our bikes are going away again after rides without the need to get the hosepipe and brushes out (don’t forget to lube the chain though!). Great stuff, we love this summer (so far).
Mountain Bike Skills training
Since our last blog, we’ve held a great weekend ladies MTB skills course. We had sun, laughs, and an all-round fun. We all came away better, more confident, riders (yes, us too). We even managed to top up our tans.
We have more dates for MTB skills courses on the website, including our Beyond the Trail Centre skills training, which widens things out from the “Core Skills” to include more of the techniques you will need when hitting natural trails, like map reading, trailside repairs, what kit to carry on a day out, sometimes a long way from anywhere, and with no signposting. Please have a look here https://www.peakcyclinguk.com/mountain.
Mountain bike tours
We have changed the date of our Welsh Coast to Coast, slightly, now starting on the Wednesday and finishing Saturday. For more details of this epic crossing, Conwy to Port Talbot, please take a look here https://www.peakcyclinguk.com/mountain.
Café Adventure. Hope
As many of you already know we often base some of our courses at Café Adventure, Edale Road, Hope (web site address). In conjunction with the café we have sponsored the purchase of some quality bike locks, so you can visit the café and leave your bike locked to the bike racks. You don’t have to be on one of our courses just a customer of the café. Turn up, put your bike in the rack and ask for a lock along with your coffee. Simple.
One day rides
We are pleased to announce a new way for you to get out and ride with us; be it road, gravel or MTB. If you can’t manage a weekend or 4 day trip, why not just slot a single day into your calendar and join us for a professionally guided day on your bike?
MTB – Saturday 21st July
Gravel – Saturday 28th July
Road – Saturday 18th August
Details can be found on our website and more dates for late summer/autumn will follow later this summer, including some week day and Sunday dates.
For £45 you get led on some amazing Peak District trails, tracks or roads, we take you to great cafes to refuel and look after simple mechanical problems whilst out. Numbers are limited so book your place today
Children’s cycling
Working with a new tea room, The Cow Shed, Dale Abbey near Ilkeston, we are launching some new learn to ride and after school MTB skills sessions.
Also, the summer holiday dates have been published, including some half day Shipley Park based sessions and whole days, meeting at The Cow Shed. Details are here https://www.peakcyclinguk.com/childrens-cycling.
Sheffield – the Out Door City
We are delighted to be working the #sheffieldoutdoorcity project to develop outdoor holiday experiences for overseas visitors. This is very exciting, and will see some additional and different cycling opportunities on our website in the future.
